In the Heart of Barton

Volunteer Opportunities

“Whatever you do, do from the heart, as for the Lord and not for others.”

-Colossians 3:23

There are many ways in which each of us can share our time and talents in an effort to meet the various needs of our parish.  Below are some of the areas currently in need of volunteers, as well as a link to the Parish Ministry Handbook containing a complete listing and descriptions of other parish ministries in which you can get involved.

Parish Ministry Handbook

  • Saint Mary's Gardening Angels are currently seeking volunteers who will take on the care of an assigned plot on our grounds. Normal care of the plots consists of weeding and deadheading of flowers on a regular basis.  All plots have beautiful perennial plants and bushes in them that compliment the esthetic beauty of our church, rectory and school grounds. We ask that volunteers provide their own gardening tools and gloves. If interested in helping maintain our beautiful parish grounds, contact Renee Kempfer at 262-334-1714 or email at [email protected] OR Carolyn Fischer at 262-629-5862 or email at [email protected]
  • Ushers Needed: Looking for someone interested in becoming an usher at the 7:30am or 9:30am Mass. Become part of a crew on a monthly rotating basis, or help out at special Masses.  Contact Ed Geidel at 262-343-1074 for more information.

  • Church Cleaning/Decorating.  Usually the last Saturday of every month.  Watch the bulletin for specific dates and times.

  • Altar Servers.  Altar servers are always needed, not only for weekend liturgies, but also for Holy Days, and Funeral Masses.  Anyone, from grade 4 though adult is encouraged to help out in this area.  Please contact the Parish Office for details.
  • Journey: Could you open your heart to be a mentor to a person with special needs? Journey (formerly known as Spred) is in need of volunteers to share faith with children, teens and adults with special needs from the Quad Parish community. Come and grow in your faith with these special people. All training provided. No experience necessary. Just an open heart. Contact Christina at 262-334-9511 for more information.

  • Casa Guadalupe Education Center
    • Hispanic Adult Literacy - English Classroom Aides / Tutors for Adults
      • We are looking for adult volunteers that would like to either help out in our adult English classrooms as aides to the teachers in our West Bend and Hartford locations, or who would like to help local Spanish speaking individuals one on one with their English acquisition outside the classroom. You do not have to know Spanish to work with these students. You would not have to volunteer every Tues & Thurs – whatever works best with your schedule.

    • Health Literacy
      • Health Project Volunteer
      • If you have a background in health care, please considering volunteering for Casa Guadalupe’s Latino Health Outreach Project, which includes different activities such as health seminars and screenings throughout the year. Being bilingual is preferable, but not required.
