Amigos Unidos-Grade School Program

In 2009, our Twinning committee started “Amigos Unidos” (translates to “close friends”) Grade School Program, for the educational and physical welfare of the grade school children in the extensive community of Taulabé, Honduras. Proceeds go to provide school supplies, book bags, shoes, and school uniforms to over one hundred grade school children.

Currently this program helps to support six schools.  We provide the schools with the funds to purchase what is needed.

• Two grade schools – Children are given book bags, school supplies, uniforms and/or shoes, as needed, so they can attend school.
• Three mountain community schools – A breakfast is prepared by mothers who volunteer to prepare and serve it.  A typical simple breakfast can consist of beans, rice, tortilla and possibly meat.
• One kindergarten – Funds help to provide a snack for the children as well as supplies for daily class activities.
